The Westphal Ranch is located in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, 100 miles north of Billings, Montana. 

The ranch got its start from Shari’s grandfather and was later expanded by her father. Vic and Shari now operate the ranch with the help of their daughter Jenni.

The Westphal’s have been raising red angus since 1976. They have grown from a small number of older purchased cows and heifers to over 300 VGW mature mother cows. They not only run registered cattle, but also a small herd of commercial cattle.

The cattle are expected to perform. Vic and Shari strive to have their cattle be consistent and balanced across the EPD board. They are challenged with meeting what the registered and commercial breeders need without going to extremes in any one EPD area. 

In October, the bull calves are sent to Bold’s feedlot in Winifred, Montana where they are available for your inspection. Vic and Shari believe in pushing the bull calves just enough to demonstrate their genetic potential, but not so much as to endanger their longevity. The heifer calves are feed at the ranch, and are also available for your inspection.
