Westphal Red Angus Sale At the Ranch, Grass Range, Montana Wednesday, March 24, 2010 Auctioneer: Ty Thompson, Billings, Montana Sale Management: Deichmann Livestock Brokerage, Hobson, Montana Two bulls topped the sale at $9500 each. They included: Lot 1 - VGW Bravo 955, a 2-27-09 son of Red SSS Oly 554T out of a Lonerock Goldstrike 262 dam had a 76# BW and a 704# 205WW, with EPD's of BW -3.0, WW 32, YW 76, MK 24, TM 40, St9, Marb 0.03, REA 0.19 and FAT 0. He sold to Hamilton Ranch at Twin Bridges, Montana. Lot 5 - VGW Oly 903, a 1-27-09 son of Red SSS oly 554T, out of a VGW Trademark 4101 dam that had a 59# BW and a 1222# 365YW, with EPD's of BW -3.9, WW 28, YW 73, MK 22, TM 36, St 11, Marb 0.04, REA 0.12 and FAT-0.01. He sold to Bieber Red Angus of Leola, South Dakota and Jeffries Land and Cattle of Checotah, Oklahoma. Selling at $6750 was Lot 22 - VGW Oly P904, a2-03-09 Red SSS Oly 554T son out of a GEFB Northern Canyon 2328 dam with a 105 MPPA. He had a 72# BW, a 728# 205WW, a 1229# 365 YW, with EPD's of BW -2.3, WW 40, YW 80, MK 24, TM 44, ST 10, Marb 0.11, REA 0.20 and FAT -0.01. He sold to Sun River Red Angus at Fort Shaw, Montana. Selling at $5500 was Lot 43 - VGW Element 943, a son of VGW Game Plan 508 out of a VGW King of the West daughter with EPD's of BW 1.0, WW 39, YW 75, MK 18, TM 37, ST 9, MARB 0.21, REA 0.18 and FAT -0.02. He sold to Udy Cattle Co. of Rockland, Idaho. Lot 84, VGW Command 989, sold at $5000 to Hedman Ranch of Grass Range, Montana. He was a 3-23-09 high performance son of Basin Trendsetter 7432 with a GEFB Northern Canyon dam who had a 110 MPPA. Two registered open heifers sold at $1100 per head. Lot 137, a Red SSS Oly daughter out of a VGW Game Plan 508 dam. She sold to Gilkey Farm Inc of Denton, Montana. P0901 had an ultra-light BW of just 54#, and a BW EPD of -4.0. Lot 108, VGW War-Flower 0909, a daughter of Beckton Warrior R667 CL. She had a light BW of just 50# with a BW EPD of -3.0, and was in the top 25% of the breed for BW, YW, MK, TM and ST EPD's. She sold to Cassidy Briggs of Grass Range, Montana.
